NEW DELHI--Urging residents of Old Rajender Nagar to vote for the BJP, Union Minister for Water Resources Uma Bharti asked them not to trust the “jhadu wale mahoday (the man with the broom)” this time.
Emphasising how important it is for Delhi to have a government spearheaded by Narendra Modi at the Centre, she said the PM has given India a much-need “arrogance”.
“Aage badhne ke liye, ek akkhad honi zaruri hai. Modi ne Bharat ko woh akkhad di hai, jo age badhne main madadgar sabit hogi. Modi ke raj main he yeh sambhav hai. BJP ki sarkar Dilli ke liye vardaan hogi (To move ahead, self-pride is necessary. Modi has given India that self-pride and it will take India forward. This will be possible only under Modi’s rule.),” she said to applause from 100-odd supporters who attended the rally.
Bharti chose not to mention the AAP or Kejriwal by name and instead kept referring to them as “jhadu wale”.
“Jaise bhagwan ki murti jab khandit ho jati hai, use mandir main nahin rakha jata, balki Yamuna main visarjit kar diya jata hai. Waise hi, jhadu wali sarkar ab khandit ho chuki hai. use ab logon ko baha dena chahiye. Woh shasan ke mandir main baithne layak nahin hai. (When an idol gets damaged, we don’t keep it in a temple, we immerse it in the Yamuna. In the same way, AAP’s government is damaged. We should it send it away as they are not fit to rule).”
Promising that the BJP would work day and night to clean the Yamuna and Ganga, she said, “When Chinese President visited India in 2014, Modi took him to the Sabarmati river front. Can you imagine a foreign dignitary visiting the Yamuna or Ganga? They would not be able to stand there for even a second. This is where the role of administration comes. If we come to power we will not only clean up the Yamuna, we will transform it,” she said.
