Jeddah: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has condemned the continuing horrific massacres committed by the Israeli occupation against innocent Palestinians and displaced persons in the Gaza Strip, the latest of which was the bombing of various parts across the Gaza Strip, resulting in the martyrdom of 31 Palestinians and dozens of civilian injuries.
In a statement, the OIC described the attacks as a dangerous escalation and a flagrant violation of the ceasefire agreement, and as an attempt to undermine international efforts aimed at stabilizing the truce and implementing the second phase of the agreement.
It also held Israel, the occupying power, fully responsible for the repercussions of this heinous crime, calling on the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to assume its responsibilities in compelling the occupation to respect its full commitments and implement the provisions of the second phase under UN Security Council Resolution 2803.
The organization emphasized the necessity of opening all crossings and providing unimpeded humanitarian assistance, withdrawing Israeli occupation forces, beginning the process of early recovery and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, and relaunching a political process leading to an end of the occupation and the implementation of the two-state solution.
Violations by the occupation of the ceasefire agreement, which was signed last October, continue, as Israeli forces carried out airstrikes, artillery shelling, gunfire from armored vehicles and drones, and demolition of civilian homes, resulting in the martyrdom and injury of hundreds of Palestinians, the statement read.
It highlighted that these casualties are added to hundreds of thousands of martyrs, wounded, missing, and displaced due to the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 2023.
