ISLAMABAD: Suggestions from the police regarding slums have created new headaches instead of solutions for the civic agency of Pakistani federal capital Islamabad, as some of the suggestions fall beyond established policies.
The Islamabad Police has shared a survey list of slums located within Islamabad Capital Territory limits with the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
The findings of the survey compiled after conducting door-to-door verification of inhabitants with the help of the police special branch say there are at least 24 slums in urban and rural areas of the city, with 13,521 families consisting of 84,591 individuals are living in them. Out of these 24 slums, 21 are located in urban areas, while the other three are in rural Islamabad.
During the last five years, the Islamabad Police traced 674 cases of crimes to residents of these areas.
Three rebels die in clash
Islamabad: At least three militants were killed and three injured in a clash with security forces in North West Pakistan.
According to official sources, in the Shlobar area of the Khyber Agency, security officials tried to stop a suspicious vehicle, when it did not stop the security personnel opened fire on it, Dawn news reported.
Three suspected militants died on the spot, whereas, three others wounded were arrested by security forces afterwards. Sources said that two security personnel were also injured.
