Beirut: The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) yesterday distributed Qatari humanitarian aid to Syrian refugees in Jounieh in the Mount Lebanon Governorate. The aid given to 200 families, included heaters and waterproof plastic covers in addition to personal and household hygiene kits. Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) had pledged, under an agreement with UNHCR, to provide relief worth $20m for Syrian families which have sought refuge in Lebanon. Under the agreement signed on December 23, QRCS will provide 24,000 heaters, 120,000 blankets, 120,000 mattresses, 120,000 hygiene kits, 12m litres of heating fuel and 48,000 waterproof plastic covers.
Belgian minister meets Qatari envoy
