DOHA: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has denied reports about a plan to increase the lanes on February 22 Street.
Based on a report of the services and utilities committee of the Central Municipal Council (CMC), local media reported last week that the street will be developed into seven lanes with two lanes for trucks.
The CMC discussed the committee report in its meeting on Tuesday. “The Public Works Authority confirms that there are no plans to increase the number of lanes on the street and denies what was included in the services and public utilities committee meeting report in this regard,” Ashghal said in a statement yesterday. Ashghal or any of its officials did not release any information about development plans for the street or about increasing its lanes, it added. Ashghal said none of its representatives was present in the meeting and therefore contents of the meeting report have not been approved by Ashghal.
