Doha: After the success of Aspire Jam in the past three years, Aspire Zone has announced that this year’s edition will be held on March 14 from 3pm to 8pm at Aspire Park Basketball Court.
The fourth edition of Aspire Jam is an opportunity for Qatar’s best street basketball players to showcase skills and techniques in front of audience, Qatar News Agency reports.
Aspire Jam is a three-on-three tournament with two substitutes completing the team of five.
All games will be played on a half court as in the previous years. This edition will feature 16 teams competing for the coveted title.
Abdulla Al Khater, Events Manager, Aspire Zone, said: “Basketball is a popular sport in Qatar and we are delighted to be organising the fourth edition of Aspire Jam.
“The event is a rare opportunity for our talented players to come together and show us their outstanding skills.
“Aspire Zone is committed to organising events that involve the community, particularly young people, to help them to be active, to enjoy a sport and have fun.”
The event is open to Qataris and male expatriates aged 16 years and above.
Aspire Jam has specifically been organised to highlight talents of amateur players, not professional and college players.
Aspire Zone is dedicated to organising events that promote a healthy lifestyle and encourage the community to be active through events, including Aspire Jam, Aquathon, Cycle in Aspire and Kids run the park.
Basketball enthusiasts and teams looking to take part should log on to www.lifeinaspire.qa as spots are expected to fill fast.
