DOHA: Hamad Medical Corporation convened its first international advisory panel of local and international healthcare professionals to map out the future of Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute (HHQI) and build upon HMC’s successes in healthcare improvement.
HHQI was launched at Middle East Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare last April by Dr Hanan Al Kuwari, Managing Director, HMC, to shape the future of healthcare and build upon HMC’s commitment to improve quality and patient safety and adherence to international best practices in Qatar and the region.
Dr Al Kuwari told the panel: “HHQI builds upon our strengths as leaders in healthcare improvement and innovation by continuing to focus on consolidating, integrating and developing services we provide to our patients. The key to HHQI is that it must be relevant to Qatar and accessible to everyone.”
As part of its commitment to deliver world-class quality and capability in healthcare in Qatar and internationally, HMC works with Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), the leading organisation for innovation and quality improvement in healthcare across the world.
Speaking at World Innovation Summit for Health earlier last month about HMC’s commitment to quality improvement in healthcare in Qatar, Don Berwick, President Emeritus and Senior Fellow, IHI, said, “HMC and its leaders have embraced modern quality management methods frankly as deeply and as actively as any large healthcare organisation in my memory.
“Clinical improvements under way have resulted in lives being saved, pain being averted and hundreds of human beings spending months and years with their loved ones who would otherwise have become statistics of medical morbidity and mortality.
“HMC has done this with comprehensive and systemic continuous improvement supported by transparency and metrics.
“The message to all staff and clinicians from the executive suite is clear: Our mission is vital, your wisdom is the greatest resource.”
HHQI strengthens HMC’s collaboration between HMC and IHI in the sharing of international best practice tools and methodologies in healthcare improvement. The Peninsula
