Riyadh: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has expressed its condemnation in the strongest terms of the nefarious and blatant Iranian missile attacks on the territories of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan, in a flagrant violation of their sovereignty.
In a statement issued yesterday, Secretary-General of the GCC, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, affirmed the full solidarity of all GCC states, standing as one rank and circling the wagons in the face of these attacks, and placing all their capabilities at the disposal of these nations to support whatever measures they take to defend their sovereignty, security, and national interests, while maintaining their right to respond and defend themselves in accordance with the principles of the United Nations (UN) Charter. Moreover, Albudaiwi warned of the dire consequences of this unjustified escalation, which threatens the security and stability of the region. He explained that the Council states have always been strong advocates for maintaining regional peace, security, and stability for the benefit of all peoples in the region. Albudaiwi further stressed that targeting the territories of GCC states contradicts the provisions of international law, the UN Charter, and the principles of good neighborliness, and cannot be accepted under any justification or pretext, and that Iran must immediately cease any escalatory actions that would undermine regional security and stability.
The Arab League also condemned in the strongest rems the Iranian attacks on the State of Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, the UAE, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia.
In a statement, the Arab League General Secretariat considered the missile attacks a blatant violation of the sovereignty of peace-loving nations that have worked to achieve stability and have not participated in war. The statement expressed full solidarity with the Arab states in confronting these attacks and support for any measures they take to defend themselves and protect their people. The statement emphasized that Arab states have taken clear positions on the Iranian crisis by rejecting military action against Tehran, and Arab states have exerted tremendous efforts to mediate and avert the escalation being witnessed today. Egypt also strongly condemned Iran’s targeting of the territorial integrity of Arab countries and the violation of their sovereignty, including Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan, noting the serious risks posed to the security and stability of Arab states and the region as a whole.
