Winners of ‘Buthra’ Platform Awards honoured for environmental sustainability

Doha, Qatar: Minister of Environment and Climate Change H E Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie honoured the winners of the “Buthra” Platform Awards for the 2025–2026 cycle during a ceremony organised by the Ministry on the occasion of Qatar Environment Day 2026.

The recognition comes in appreciation of their contributions in presenting innovative solutions and initiatives that support environmental sustainability in the State of Qatar.

The ceremony was attended by H E Dr. Ghanem bin Mubarak bin Ghanem Mohammed Al Ali, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture; Eng. Ali Mohammed Al Kuwari, Chief Executive Officer of Msheireb Properties; Dr. Ibrahim Abdul Latif Al Muslamani, Assistant Undersecretary for Protection and Natural Reserves Affairs; and Yousef Ibrahim Al Hammr, Assistant Undersecretary for Environmental Affairs.

The platform’s awards witnessed wide participation from various segments of society, reflecting growing environmental awareness and a strong spirit of innovation in Qatar. A total of 193 submissions were received, including 51 entries for the Environmental Creativity and Innovation Award, 132 entries for the Environmental Photography Award, and 10 entries for the Sustainable Environmental Camp Award.

The “Buthra” Platform Awards cover diverse areas, including climate change challenges and their impacts, biodiversity, sustainable environmental solutions, circular economy and recycling, pollution reduction and environmental awareness, as well as highlighting the aesthetic aspects of Qatar’s natural environment.

Dr. Farhoud Hadi Al Hajri, Director of the Public Relations and Communication Department at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, affirmed that the “Buthra” platform continues to transform creative ideas into actionable projects by providing a supportive environment for innovation, backing promising environmental initiatives, and empowering individuals to present solutions that address environmental challenges and advance sustainability in the country. He praised the high quality of submissions and the growing awareness of the importance of environmental protection. He also emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to launching initiatives and programs that encourage environmental creativity and support the achievement of sustainable development goals, inviting the public to visit the Ministry’s official website to explore the “Buthra” digital platform and participate in future initiatives and competitions aimed at building a more sustainable environmental future.

The Environmental Creativity and Innovation Award received submissions from 31 August to 30 October 2025. Five positions were awarded. First place went to Mohammed Mubarak Hamad Ahmed Al Sulaiti and Reem Ghanem Al Sulaiti for their project “Design Without Waste.”
