KARACHI: The government of Pakistan has released Rs141.1bn ($1.43bn) in the first nine months of current fiscal year to various ministries and divisions for development projects under the public sector development programme (PSDP) against the total annual allocation of Rs233bn ($2.38bn).
According to official figures released by Planning Commission, out of total Rs141.1bn, Rs74.9bn was released for infrastructure projects, Rs61.5bn for social sector projects and Rs1.9bn for projects in other sectors under PSDP 2012-13 as on March 30, 2013.
The PSDP envisaged 345 infrastructure development projects, 694 social sector development projects and 74 projects in other sectors. It may be noted that the total PSDP size is Rs360bn, including foreign aid component of Rs100bn and Rs27bn for special programmes.
Cabinet/finance division is releasing funds for special programmes. Foreign aid disbursement amount is received in the economic affairs division.
The commission is to disburse 20 per cent of funds in the first quarter (July-September), 20 percent in the second quarter (October-December), 25 percent in the third quarter (January-March) and 35 percent in the fourth quarter (April-June).
