Officials at the signing ceremony.

Doha: United Development Company (UDC), a Qatari shareholding company and master developer of the Pearl-Qatar, yesterday signed a lease agreement with Palma Hospitality Group to launch a series of genuine food and beverage concepts and a unique family entertainment centre over 7,000sqm in Medina Centrale at the Pearl-Qatar.
“The concepts which will be brought by Palma Hospitality Group are strategic to the building of an interesting and diversified retail mix which suits the budding spirit of Medina Centrale, dubbed the island’s town centre,” said Ehab Kamel, General Manager for Retail Leasing, the Pearl-Qatar.
He said UDC’s focus at this stage of developing the Pearl-Qatar is to secure a dynamic retail mix for Medina Centrale.
The agreement signed by Kamel and Charbel Mhanna, Executive Manager, Palma Hospitality Group, entails opening of two restaurants, La Casa 28 and Debs w Reman and a coffee shop, Mokarabia.
A mega entertainment centre, Metropolis, will comprise another five trendy food and beverage offerings: Saladworks, Earl of Sandwich, Camille’s Ice cream and Mister Pizza and a café and entertainment outlet for kids.
While La Casa 28 derives its culinary influences from around the Mediterranean region, Debs W Reman focuses on Levantine cuisine, and the popular Mokarabia supplies high-quality coffee blends for caffeine addicts.
“The Pearl-Qatar is a tourist landmark and a unique lifestyle destination not only for Qatar but also the whole region, and we are confident that our hybrid concepts will contribute to the island’s reputation as a destination for tourists and entertainment-seekers,” said Mhanna.
Metropolis pledges to be a unique hybrid entertainment centre of regional impact, combining a multitude of entertainment venues ranging from arcades and indoor attractions like golf, bowling, snooker, billiard and darts, to high-tech games and an active sports zone. The entertainment centre over 6,000sqm will be further marked by an enhanced food and beverage service and a more sophisticated service model.
“With commercial spaces of about 56,000sqm ready, we are aggressively pursuing our expansion plans by attracting global brands to open outlets here,” Kamel said, referring to commercial space available at Medina Centrale.
