Beijing, At least 24 people died after firefighters were sent to combat a forest blaze in remote mountains in southwest China at the weekend, state media said Monday.
Authorities lost contact with the group on Sunday afternoon after firefighters were deployed to douse flames that broke out at an altitude of 3,800 metres (12,467 feet), a newspaper affiliated to the People's Liberation Army said.
