Doha: The Qatar Stars League (QSL) has decided to donate all ticket sales from the Qatar Cup to the people of Nepal that have been affected by the recent devastating earthquake, which struck the Himalayan nation last Saturday.
More than 5,000 people are now known to have died in the earthquake and the QSL’s pledge is part of broader international trend that has seen big donations flooding in from all around the world to help the stricken people of Nepal.
The proceeds from the ticket sales of the Qatar Cup matches will be donated to Qatar Charity, the official charity partner of the QSL in an effort to help.
Next week the QSL will have a cheque presentation ceremony and will hand over the donation to Qatar Charity who will distribute the money to various good causes, thereby helping the earthquake victims in Nepal. There are a great number of Nepali expatriates who work in Qatar and have contributed to the development of the country in recent years. The QSL therefore hopes that this donation can help in some small way with the relief efforts in Nepal. The Peninsula
