US police kill San Diego mass shooting suspect

WASHINGTON: Police in the U.S. gunned down a suspect who had opened fire on people at an apartment complex in San Diego, California, killing one person and injuring seven others.

Police confirmed on social media there had been “multiple casualties” but added there was no further threat.

The shooting took place at the poolside area of a residential complex on Sunday evening, local time.

Several of the injured are reportedly in a critical condition.

In a media briefing the authorities identified the gunman as 49-year-old Peter Selis, a resident of the complex.
