DOHA: The Prime Minister and Interior Minister, H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, recently visited Barwa Real Estate Company’s ‘Al Khor Workers Sports Complex’, and praised the facilities and progresses achieved under the ambitious project.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister of Youth and Sports and Barwa Chairman, H E Salah bin Ghanim bin Nasser Al Ali, along with some senior officials of Barwa and its subsidiaries.
They toured the facilities of the project to get familiar with the latest progresses achieved. Prior to the tour, a presentation on the project was delivered by Ahmad Abdulla Al Abdulla, Acting Group CEO of Barwa Real Estate, before joining ministers’ delegation into the tour.
The PM appreciated the Board of Directors of Barwa and the senior management for their distinctive efforts developing Al Khor Workers Sports Complex in record time and by an actual budget that is less than the initially planned budget, an achievement requiring resources as significant as Barwa’s.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani stressed that the government will continue its support to the developmental plans of Barwa which have a great input on the economic growth and the social balance in Qatar. Barwa’s projects and plans always had deeper objectives of accomplishing social merge and raising living standards of low income categories, among other aspects which directly affect the Qatari community. In addition to the economic significance those projects hold.
Barwa Real Estate Group had designed and developed Al Khor Workers Sports Complex to serve existing workers based in Al Khor and Al Shamal cities. The group announced the official opening of the project earlier in February this year, in partnership with the Supreme Committee of Delivery and Legacy and Qatar Foundation.
Al Khor Workers Sports Complex provides an integrated leisure-based community for recreation and sports activities. The project consists of four Crickets fields, four Football fields, four Volleyball fields, four basketball fields, four Kabaddi fields and sufficient amenities such as mosques, supermarket, Souk retail street, car parking, bus stops, taxies areas, cinema and government offices. The project will be operated by professional facility management company, providing admin, security, cleaning and regular maintenance.
Al Khor Workers Sports Complex is a continuation of Barwa’s aspirations to achieve sustainable growth through an investment beyond real estate; it’s the investment in building a strong community.
