Muscat: Omani Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammad Al-Saidi, said that the coronavirus (Covid-19) is still very dangerous and widespread, noting that 7 new deaths were recorded in the country, bringing the total number to 49 deaths.

Al-Saidi added, in a statement to the Sultanate of Oman TV, and relayed by the Oman News Agency (ONA), that the number of people in hospitals is 199, of whom 43 percent are in intensive care, and many of them exceeded their stay in intensive care for four weeks, noting that the number of similar cases recovered was 2682, while the number of registered cases of coronavirus is 11,437.

He said that reducing the recovery period to less than 14 days in some Gulf countries led to a high rate of recovery for them, pointing out that one of the biggest challenges in facing the coronavirus is expatriate labour, stressing at the same time that the epidemiological investigation is active.

The Omani Minister of Health stressed the need to follow health instructions and precautionary measures to prevent this pandemic.
