Doha: Kenyans living in Qatar have until June 2 to verify their voting credentials at the embassy in Doha. Kenyan citizens residing in Doha who participated in the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise, which concluded in February at the embassy, can visit the premises to confirm their details are well documented ahead of the August 9 presidential election.

Speaking to the media, Ambassador Washington Oloo, Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of Kenya, said 1,440 Kenyans registered in Doha during the voter registration exercise, recorded as one of the highest among all the diaspora stations.

“We are happy that Kenyans in Qatar registered one of the highest diaspora numbers. Now we have a team here to do verification of the voters.

"So Kenyan citizens who participated in the voters’ registration exercise have an opportunity to check and confirm their details in preparation for the elections that will take place on August 9, 2022,” Oloo said.

He stressed that Kenyans should take advantage of this opportunity because any mistakes in their registration would be difficult to rectify in the elections.

“This exercise will enable them to vote on election day, and if at all there is a discrepancy between what is reflected in the register and the documents, it will not be easy to rectify it at that time and vote at the same time. That’s why it is good that they do this well in advance of the voting so the process can be seamless.”
