TRIPOLI: Workers at Libya's Zueitina Oil Company have shut down operations at several of its oilfields as they demand a change in management, industry sources said on Monday.
"The protest started at the 103 D field then spread to 103 A and Zala oilfields, and now the port has been affected too," an engineer working at the Zueitina terminal said.
"Yesterday the oil minister went to one of the fields to talk with the protesters. We are demanding a change in management."
An oil industry source confirmed that the shutdowns were due to the workers' demands.
A Zueitina official from the company's media office said only, "there are demonstrations in Zueitina's fields."
Libya normally produces around 1.6 million barrels per day but state oil company NOC said last month output had fallen below 1 million bpd due to protests.
It had partially recovered before the latest disruptions. (Reuters)
