DOHA: A generous Qatari citizen has sold his car to pay for the medical expenses of an expatriate to the tune of QR160,000.

The citizen listened an advertisement on the radio programme Nasaim Al Khair sponsored by Eid Charity.

The advertisement said that a 40-year-old expatriate living in Qatar for 20 years was suffering from liver and stomach cancer.

The patient needs an urgent surgery abroad.

The Ministry of Social Affairs has approved collection of donation for his treatment.

As per procedures, donation collected will be transferred to Egypt where the patient will undergo surgery through the Qatari embassy, said the radio presenter. After listening to the radio programme, the citizen rushed to Eid Charity and donated his car whose price was enough to cover the expenses of the surgery (QR160,000), Al Raya reported yesterday.

The patient is preparing to travel to Egypt for surgery.

He is expected to fly within a few days. The Peninsula
