ISLAMABAD: As a search is in progress by the Pakistan government to appoint new secretary of defence, former Lt Gen Alam Khattak has emerged as the top contender for the coveted position, sources said yesterday.
The post is lying vacant after the expiry of the two-year contract of Former Lt Gen Asif Yasin last week.
According to informed officials, Khattak continues to be the hot favourite of the decision-makers. Among others being considered are Former Lt Gen Haroon Aslam and Federal Secretary Nargis Sethi.
Khattak was commissioned in Frontier Force Regiment. Incidentally, Army Chief General Raheel Sharif is also from the same regiment.
