Al Shaqab Racing’s Qemah after the Prix Rothschild win at Deauville yesterday.

London: The Al Shaqab Racing clinched another victory at the Qatar Goodwood Festival yesterday when  filly Qemah imposed herself easily in the Prix Rothschild (Gr1) at Deauville.
Trained by French trainer Jean-Claude Rouget, the filly was placed on the outside of the lot, very relaxed. She followed Amazing Maria.
In her back was Volta. Down the home straight, Qemah started to place her action at three hundred meters from the post.
She managed to take the advantage on the Francis-Henri Graffard trained filly, Volta, who kept going accelerating again near the finish line.
The third place of the race was disputed between Steip Amach and Esoterique. The first called finally made it to the third step of the podium. Rupert Pritchard Gordon,
Al Shaqab Racing’s representative in France, said: “It is beautiful. The filly confirmed what she did in Ascot. She was relaxed today, which helped her accelerate like she did. She seemed to have reach a point in her maturity. She is entered in the Jacques le Marois but also in the Matron Stakes. Maybe the but we will see with her connections for the rest of her program.”
Qemah, recently landed the Coronation Stakes (Gr1) at Royal Ascot last month after placing third in the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches (Gr1). Trainer Jean-Claude Rouget explained: “Today she confirms all her qualities. She was still a little immature in the Poule d’Essai. Ascot helped her gain experience. The race did her good. She will not run the Jacques Le Marois but should go to the Matron Stakes.”
