Washington: An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale hit Alaska, USA. No tsunami warnings were issued.

The US Geological Survey reported on Monday that the epicenter of the earthquake, which occurred last night, was 68 km from the city of Akutan, at a depth of 41.9 km.

So far, there have been no reports of material or human damage caused by the earthquake.

In June, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 jolted the coast of the Aleutian Islands in Alaska

Alaska is located above the Pacific Ring of Fire, an area where tectonic plates meet, and the friction of which leads to strong seismic and volcanic activity. (QNA)
