Doha: El Jaish earned a hard fought victory in their preseason friendly when they edged out Qatari National Military team 3-2 in Doha on Sunday.
Moroccan striker Abdulrazzaq Hamdallah, Othman Al-Yahri and Uzbek Rashidov were the goal scorers for the winning side. El Jaish were leading 2-1 at halftime.
After El Jaish tested their skills against the side, Al Sailiya will also meet the Qatar National Military side ahead of the Qatar Stars League (QL) season, which starts on September 11.
The Peregrines are also scheduled to play against Emirati side Dubai on September 5. The team resumed their daily training sessions under the leadership of the Tunisian Head Coach Sami Trabelsi.
Cameroonian Raul, Romanian defender Gregor and the Bahraini international Fawzi Ayesh didn’t train with Sailiya as they are with their respective national teams.
Also Magdi Seddiq and Abdel Rahman Al Harazi are missing from first team training sessions due to being part of the Qatar National Team who will take on the Bhutan National Team as part of the Asian qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Meanwhile, Al Gharafa Sports Club will play two friendly games, the first of which will be against AL Kharaitiyat at the Thani Bin Jassim Stadium, while the second match will be against Bahraini side Al Muharraq on September 5. The latter will be Al Gharafa’s final friendly game before the start of the new season.
Al Arabi will also play a friendly game against Al Ahli on Saturday as both clubs prepare for the start of the new season.
Al Arabi resumed their training sessions on Sunday evening under the leadership of the new Head Coach Zola, the Italian focused on both physical fitness as well as technical components.
Midfielder Boualem Khoukhi missed the training sessions due to his participation in the Qatar National Team who will be playing against Bhutan as part of the qualifications for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
