Kabul: Britain confirmed its support for the Afghan armed forces and the long-term peace and stability of Afghanistan.
A statement issued by the Afghan presidency said that Britain confirmed its support for Afghanistan during a meeting on Friday between Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and British Defense Secretary Gavin Williamson.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed major issues of common concern, including the United Kingdom's support of the Afghan armed forces, as well as regional issues, the financing and equipping of the Afghan forces, and the
Afghanistan-led peace process and counter-terrorism, the statement said.
Ghani extended thanks to the United Kingdom for its support to Afghanistan, especially supporting the Afghan forces as part of the NATO-led support mission.
For his part, Williamson praised the achievements of Afghan forces in the war against terrorism, stressing his country's support for peace and stability in Afghanistan in the long term.
