DOHA: The condition of a Qatari patient being treated in a London hospital for a new Sars-like respiratory virus is improving and he will be able to leave the hospital in two weeks if everything goes well, a local Arabic daily reported yesterday quoting a close relative of the patient.
The expense for the treatment of the patient in London is being borne by Qatar government.
The daily quoted the brother of the patient as saying the Supreme Council of Health (SCH) is now following up the case.
In earlier remarks to the daily, he was critical of the SCH and the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) for their alleged failure to provide proper care to the patient, before he was shifted to London.
He, however, said it could be better if the SCH had sent a medical team to London to study the case.
The daily yesterday quoted an SCH statement as saying it had “done its best” in treating the patient, before he was shifted to the London hospital.
The statement added that the SCH was continuously monitoring the case and was in close touch with the family of the patient.
