An exhibition held as part of the 9th Annual HSE Forum in Energy, at the Grand Hyatt Doha.

Doha: Under the patronage of the Minister of Energy and Industry H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, Qatar Petroleum is highlighting its commitment in addressing health, safety and environmental issues with its strong presence at the 9th Annual HSE Forum on Energy, which opened yesterday at the Grand Hyatt Doha.

The three-day event is supported by QP, and Ras Laffan Emergency and Safety College (RLESC) is the silver sponsor.

Organised by Fleming Gulf Conferences, the theme of the event is ‘Reflective Practise: Promoting Collective Responsibility’.

In his keynote address, Dr Ali Hamed Al Mulla, Corporate HSE Manager of QP, stressed the importance of promoting ownership of HSE as a shared corporate value.

“Experience has shown us that visionary companies that succeed for decades are guided by core ideologies that include a sense of purpose beyond making money.

“It is thus essential for HSE to be integrated in an organisation’s shared values, established attitudes, expertise and behaviour. Management plays a key role as the provider of the company’s values and visions in the HSE area. It is important that the management conveys these in a well-considered manner, and that they are observed in the company’s day-to-day operations,” he said.

An exhibition was inaugurated on the sidelines of the forum and features over 20 companies.

The QP stand is primarily showcasing the corporation’s HSE programmes and activities, while the RLESC stand is presenting its range of training programmes related to safety and emergency preparedness.

Today, Rana Labban Mhanna, Head of HSE Health and Healthcare at QP, will present a paper on ‘Pandemic Planning in Qatar’s Oil and Gas Sector’, while Dr Luay Ramzi Badran, Lead Medical Officer at QP’s Medical Services Department, will give a presentation on ‘Workplace Mental Health: Building a Healthy Workplace’.
