Doha: An Omani Royal Opera delegation has visited Katara to open new avenues of cooperation and exchange cultural information and programmes.

Dr Khalid Al Sulaiti, the General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara), received in his office Cristiana Schibelman, the Director of Omani Royal Opera, and Mansour Al Ghanbusi, the head of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the opera.

Dr Al Sulaiti said the Opera House is a unique foundation in Oman and Katara is eager to communicate and build strong relations to organise common events to enrich the cultural field in the GCC.

“The policy of Katara is to make such relations with all countries and build strong bridges of cultural exchange. Katara and the opera agreed on the common points of cultural exchange,” he said.

Dr Sulaiti said Katara will make a quantum leap in its performance, vision and programmes by starting a new phase to work towards building new sponsorships and cooperating with international cultural foundations to enrich the cultural field in Qatar, the rest of the GCC and the Middle East by focusing on supporting the culture and arts to revive heritage and consolidate national identity.

“We would like to be open to other cultures and achieve cultural development to establish a strong future for Qatar’s culture to present international, regional and Arab events.”

Schibelman said she was happy over cooperation with the Cultural Village Foundation.

“The opera is focusing on marketing and advertising campaigns in the GCC to cooperate with their cultural foundations because most of visitors of the opera house are from these countries,” she said.
