Blast kills 6 Afghan troops

Kabul: At least six Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were martyred following roadside bomb explosion, defence officials said yesterday.
The exact location of the incident where the six Afghan army soldiers were martyred was not disclosed, according to Khaama Press.
The Afghan Defence ministry spokesman General Zahir Azimi said the soldiers were martyred in the past 24 hours following improvised explosive device (IED) attack.
General Azimi further added that 15 militants were also killed and a number of others were injured during the military operations in the past 48 hours.
He said Afghan soldiers also discovered and seized 48 rounds of IED along with some weapons and ammunition during the operations.
According to General Azimi, the Afghan national security forces led by the Afghan national army are currently engaged in 19 military operations in 11 provinces of the country.
The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the report
so far.
New polio cases in Pakistan
Islamabad: The Number of polio cases has risen to 184 in Pakistan after emergence of ten new cases in the country.
With new cases, the country is about to break its own world record of registering the cases of the crippling disease, according to Pakistan’s (Geo News).
The Health Department conceded that the number of polio cases has been increasing rapidly.
It said that ten new cases were reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA and Karachi.
Sources said that seven cases were reported from FATA, two from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and one from Karachi.
Moreover, the Independent Monitoring Board will meet in London yesterday to discuss the threats posed by the polio.
It is feared that Pakistan might face more restrictions for not controlling the crippling disease.
