DOHA: Lulu Hypermarkets is to extend financial support to activities undertaken by Qatar Engineering Society.
This was decided in a meeting held at the headquarters of the Society in Katara Cultural Village. The meeting was attended by Eng. Ahmed Jassim Al Julu, Chairman of the Board of the Society, members of the Board, Eng. Khalid Ahmed Alnasr, Eng. Abdulla Yousuf, and Eng. Mohamed Hassan Al Nuaimi, while Lulu Hypermarket Group was represented by Mohamed Althaf, Group Director of Lulu Hypermarket Chain, and Shaijan M O, Regional Director of Lulu Group Qatar Region.
Althaf presented a cheque of QR150,000 for supporting the activities of the Society during the period 2014-2015. The activities include those pertaining to engineering leagues within the society (league of electrical engineers, league of civil engineers, league of mechanical engineers, and league of architectural engineers).
The activities of the Society also include visits to major projects to keep the engineers updated about new developments, visits to secondary school students to raise awareness about the engineering profession and its different branches, activation of the programme called “Coffee with an engineer”, that will host 16 engineers who are executive directors and decision-makers in the government in a meeting with Qatari engineers, organising six engineering workshops next year to provide training to people in some sectors of the state, signing memorandums of understanding with certain entities for exchange of experience in the area of engineering, signing memorandums of understanding to provide social service to the country, participation in meetings of committees of the Union of Gulf Engineers, and activation of the work of the citizen committee, which provides free engineering advice to Qatari citizens.
Engineer Khalid Ahmed Al Nasr commended the initiative of Lulu Hypermarkets and its support to Qatar Engineering Society. He said this confirmed the role played by Lulu Hypermarkets in supporting professional institutions in the country.
Engineer Ahmed Jassim Al Julu presented the shield of Qatar Engineering Society to Althaf, thanking him for the support given to the society.
