JLALA: An explosive device detonated yesterday near a military post in the eastern Lebanese Bekaa valley, near the Syrian border, causing no casualties, the army said.
Two suspects, both of Syrian nationality, have been detained, a local security source said on condition of anonymity.
“This morning, after we received information about a suspicious device on the main Jlala-Shtura road (in eastern Lebanon), an army patrol travelled towards the area, and the device exploded before (the patrol’s) arrival,” the army said in a statement.
“No casualties were recorded,” it added.
The explosion was caused by “a device weighing some 300 grams, that was detonated by remote control from a distance. The army has detained two suspects”, said the statement.
The local security source confirmed the detention of the two suspects.
