Prime Minister Manmohan Singh scatters flower petals as he pays his respects at Shakti Stahl, the memorial for former Indian prime minister Indira Gandhi in New Delhi yesterday on the 29th anniversary of her death. Gandhi who was Prime Minister from 1966-77 and from 1980-1984, was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguards in 1984, four months after she ordered troops into the Golden Temple in Amritsar to flush out Sikh militants fighting for an independent state.
