DOHA: The parent of a Qatar University (QU) student who died in a road accident on the campus on Wednesday was 72.
He was hit by a car driven by a British woman professor and rushed to the emergency unit of Hamad General Hospital (HGH), reports local Arabic daily Al Raya.
Meanwhile, a university student told this newspaper that the accident took place between 3pm and 4pm. The man was crossing a main road after offering prayers in a mosque to reach the parking lot when he was hit, said the student.
The man had come to the university to pick up his daughter. He had suffered serious injuries.
In a message, the President of QU urged students and faculty members, addressing them as members of QU family, to take extreme precaution while driving within the campus.
Al Raya said a youth was critically injured when his car hit the railing in the middle of the road in another accident. There were four youth in the car and it was driven by a 16-year-old. They were coming to Doha from Abu Samra when the mishap took place. The Peninsula
