Roblox Corp. has fixed its outage that has plagued the video game company for days.
The San Mateo, California-based company said the problem was caused by the increase in the number of servers in its data centers. Users had issues connecting to its platform since Thursday afternoon, it said.
"The result was that most services at Roblox were unable to effectively communicate and deploy,” it said in a statement Sunday. "Due to the difficulty in diagnosing the actual bug, recovery took longer than any of us would have liked.”
Users have taken to Twitter to express their concerns, with some saying it’s led to panic attacks. Even Tobi Lutke, chief executive officer of Shopify Inc., weighed in.
"Crazy that Roblox is still down,” the head of the Canadian e-commerce giant said in a tweet. "Sending love and empathy to their ops team.”
The outage coincided with the opening of a virtual Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. restaurant on Roblox, where the fast-food chain was set to offer $1 million in free burritos and other items, creating a surge in usage over the Halloween weekend.
Roblox said the problem was not caused by "any peak in external traffic or any particular experience.”
