Official Spokesman of the Government Communications Office (GCO) discussed the highlights of the meetings of the Cabinet under the chairmanship of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani in October.
GCO Official Spokesman Dr. Mohammed bin Nuwaymi Al Hajri initiated his monthly presentation by citing the Cabinet’s confirmation of the full readiness of the State of Qatar to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, reminding, in this context, the Cabinet’s resolutions on the system of work with the government entities, educational institutions, in addition to the special arrangements made with regard to Doha Corniche during the hosting of the events associated with the tournament that enter into force on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, until Monday, December 19, 2022.
The Official Spokesman called for adherence to the stipulated regulatory controls to contribute to organising an exceptional and prestigious edition of the world cup, pointing out that all the relevant institutions in the State of Qatar have issued the regulating circulars to their affiliates based on the Cabinet resolutions.
On the other hand, Dr. Mohammed bin Nuwaymi Al Hajri spoke about the development roadmap included in the speech of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani during the inauguration of the second ordinary session of the first legislative term, corresponding to the Shura Council’s 51st annual session, and said that the various ministries are currently working to implement the directives of H E the Prime Minister to draw up the plans and programmes, in addition to enforcing the ample measures by implementing the directives included in the speech of H H the Amir.
The Official Spokesman added that the Prime Minister is constantly and directly following up on the various coordination levels between all ministries and the state organs within the framework of the National Development Strategy 2023-2030 that will be launched early next year, and Qatar National Vision 2030, where His Excellency has chaired the fifth meeting of the committee and has taken several appropriate decisions in this regard.
With respect to the Cabinet’s approval of the draft state budget for the fiscal year 2023, and the draft law approving the general budget, the GCO Official Spokesman affirmed that the new budget observes all national development priorities in light of the economic, regional and international geopolitics variations.
In addition, Dr. Mohammed bin Nuwaymi Al Hajri noted the Cabinet’s approval of increasing the non-Qatari investors’ ownership percentage in the capital of some joint stock companies listed on the stock exchange, underscoring that such a step comes within the state vision and directives by H H the Amir to highlight Qatar at the international level as an incubator of the direct international investment and optimise the investment environment.
He also discussed the Cabinet’s follow-up of the projects of National Health Strategy 2018-2022, reaffirming the cabinet’s appreciation for what has been achieved at this level, especially after all municipalities of Qatar have been declared healthy cities making Qatar the first country in the eastern Mediterranean to receive a such title, adding that such achievement embodies the progress in the right direction towards the implementation of the guidelines of Qatar National Vision 2030.
