The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) yesterday concluded the Human Rights at International Airports training programme for its staff and employees at the NHRC office at Hamad International Airport (HIA).
The training also included the Omani Human Rights Committee delegation, which will be hosted by the NHRC during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The training programme is organised in cooperation with the Geneva Center for Security Sector Governance (DCAF).
The training falls within the framework of the committee’s keenness to train its national cadres and employees of the committee’s office at HIA to ensure the rights of passengers and football fans.
At the conclusion of the training, Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs Department of NHRC Hamad Majid Al Marzouqi presented the trainees with certificates of appreciation. Al Marzouqi said that the programme is highly important to improving human rights and humanitarian interaction with the public at the airport.
He added that the Omani Human Rights Committee delegation will join the NHRC staff in their work to boost efforts to guarantee human rights, stressing that this will be an incentive to exchange experiences and opinions to face any obstacles that could negatively affect human rights.
He said that the series of training courses organised by the committee, prior to the FIFA World Cup will contribute to the governance of the procedures for arrivals and departures at the airport without compromising human rights.
The training courses, which were launched last August, were attended by employees from the Ministry of Interior, Hamad International Airport, the General Authority of Customs, and the NHRC.
DCAF Representative Hafez Abu Adwan said that the training comes within the framework of Qatar’s efforts to promote human rights ahead of the World Cup. Adwan added that the training shows the partnership between the NHRC and the DCAF.
