Doha, Qatar: Al Duhail defeated Al Wakrah 3-1 to join Al Rayyan and Al Sadd on 18 points at the top of the Qatar Stars League as Al Rayyan were held to a goalless draw by Al Arabi yesterday.

Al Sadd, who thrashed Al Shamal 4-1 on Friday, remain top on goal difference, ahead of Al Rayyan and Al Duhail.

Djamel Belmadi’s Al Duhail took the lead through Krzysztof Piątek’s 14th-minute strike at Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium.

Amin Zouhzouh equalised for Al Wakrah in the 41st minute before Al Duhail regained their lead through an Omair Abdulla Al-Sayed own goal in the 85th minute. Sekou Oumar Yansane sealed the victory two minutes later.

The defeat left Al Wakrah sixth with 11 points.

Meanwhile, Al Rayyan and Al Arabi played out an entertaining goalless draw at Al Thumama Stadium.

Al Rayyan’s Ahmed Al Ganehi and Al Arabi’s Pablo Sarabia missed early chances, while Al Rayyan goalkeeper Mahmoud Abunada denied Ahmed Fathy.

Isaac Lihadji and Oussama Tannane also threatened for Al Arabi, while Al Hail kept out an angled effort from Al Ganehi. Julien De Sart also saw his attempt blocked.

Gabriel Pereira tested Al Hail soon after the restart as Al Rayyan looked to break the deadlock, but neither side found a breakthrough.

The draw kept Al Arabi fourth with 13 points, two ahead of Al Ahli and Al Wakrah.

Earlier, Lusail fought back to beat Al Sailiya 2-1 at Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium, with Rodrigo scoring the winner in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Andri Sudarmanto gave Al Sailiya an early lead in the third minute before Khaled Mohammed equalised in the 38th minute.

The victory lifted Lusail to seventh with nine points, level with Al Gharafa, while bottom-placed Al Sailiya remained on one point.
