Dozens of car and bike owners turned up in Al Khor Airstrip yesterday for the first day of ‘Qatar Mile’, an event organised by Qatar Racing Club (QRC) for speed enthusiasts. The vehicles were categorised into four engine classifications. In front of a big crowd, the ‘speed merchants’ took turns on the 800m stretch and wowed fans with daredevilry on two and four-wheel machines as they attempted to cross the 300kmh mark. The second and last day of the show will be at the same venue. The action begins today at 9am and ends at 5pm, said Fahad Behzad, CEO of QRC. The fastest drivers and riders in various categories will receive cash prizes.
