Al Aween holds workshop on teens

DOHA: Social Rehabilitation Centre (Al Aween) recently organised a workshop to train teachers in dealing with teenagers and their behavioural problems. 

The workshop, titled ‘Teenagers: Challenges and opportunities,’ was attended by several teachers, psychiatrists, school counsellors and social workers. It was conducted by Dr Mamoon Mubayath, director of programmes at Social Rehabilitation Centre.

Dr Mubayath said the aim of the workshop was to improve the capacity and skills of psychiatrists and teachers, especially those dealing with teenagers, to deal with behavioural problems of students. 

Social Rehabilitation Centre has also established ‘Al Aween Schools Association’ as a part of its ongoing school project, ‘Thawasul’ (keep in touch), to help teachers and students. 

The project has been introduced in 19 schools, and involves workshops and training programmes for counsellors and teachers. 

Abdul Aziz Al Haq, director of media and public relations at Social Rehabilitation Centre, emphasised the importance of interaction and creating awareness among students and teachers through extracurricular activities such as sports.
