DOHA: The municipal authorities evicted tenants of 72 labour camps in Umm Salal over the past one year, since issuance of the law banning labour camps in residential areas. At least 11 landlords were notified and 32 warnings were issued to shift the workers from such accommodations, said the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning in reply to complaints from the public, Al Sharq reported yesterday.
Several residents of Umm Salal have been complaining about the mushrooming labour camps and warehouses in the area. The Ministry is taking the necessary action to shift the remaining labour camps from the locality, said the daily.
