DOHA: A popular restaurant on a busy commercial street in Old Airport area has re-opened, a month after its temporary closure for violating health and hygiene rules.
The restaurant had been closed down by the Supreme Council of Health following a food-poisoning case involving four of a family.
Inspectors raided the eatery and ordered it shut.
The Peninsula reported at the time of the closure that the family had bought and ate chicken, rice and salad, felt nausea and began vomiting. They later suffered from diarrhoea and mild fever and called the ambulance.
A certificate issued by the emergency unit said the four had suffered from food poisoning.
The restaurant is a favourite of most residents in the area. Some said they had seen it undergoing intensive renovation during its closure.
Contacted, the manager said everything had been settled and the outlet was open now. He declined to give details about the violations.
Several eateries have been closed recently by the SCH following cases of food poisoning.
The ministry yesterday listed 72 food outlets, including restaurants and cafes, that have been closed down across the country for violating health and safety rules. The Peninsula
