Doha: Pakistan International School Qatar (PISQ) organised many festivities and programmes to celebrate Qatar National Day.

Due to COVID-19, it was not possible to organise big celebration this year but students in small groups participated in various activities.

PISQ aims to infuse in its students the values of Qatari pride, identity, and citizenship. The celebration strictly followed COVID-19 safety and precautionary measures issued by the  Ministry of Public Health.

The students, faculty and staff celebrated Qatar National Day through commemorative words, Qatar history quiz, cultural presentations, drawing, painting and sketching contests, model formation, wearing traditional costumes and other activities.

This year, the day was celebrated under the slogan, ‘Ancestral Meadows: A Matter of Trust’. Reflecting the slogan, the school students decorated their classrooms with Qatari flags, posters, and banners.

The celebrations witnessed multiple activities by the students of four wings of the school, including a cake cutting ceremony, Qatar history quiz, singing of national anthem of Qatar and display of Qatar history models. The students showed keen interest in the  event.  They made numerous models, sketches, and drawings of various landmarks in Qatar which provided a deep insight into Qatar’s rich heritage and tradition.

Many students attired in Qatari costumes added beauty to the event. National songs were also played to show the solidarity of the expatriates with the local residents.

Traditional food items were also prepared by the students and shared among themselves.
