DOHA: The “I am Seven and I Will Pray” programme recently concluded as part of the Bunyan Winter Camp activities. Held at Granada Preparatory School for Girls over four days from Sunday to Wednesday, the programme was conducted in both Arabic and English with the participation of 300 male and female students from various public and private schools.
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education in statement said that the programme aims to introduce students to prayer through an engaging and interactive approach that fosters a correct understanding and instils a love for worship in their hearts. By connecting students to prayer behaviourally and practically within a fun, educational environment, the initiative contributes to building a balanced and conscious generation that thrives on values and skills.
Participants are encouraged to engage positively with their community within a supportive framework where they learn that spiritual, moral, and intellectual growth are essential parts of daily life.
The camp served as an extension of the inaugural “I am Seven and I Will Pray” initiative, specifically targeting children aged seven and eight. The attendance was split equally, with 150 students participating in the English-language track and 150 students in the Arabic-language track, bringing the total to 300 participants.
The opening day was attended by several prominent educational and social figures, underscoring the importance of these educational initiatives. Their presence highlighted the commitment of various entities to supporting programmes that focus on youth development and the promotion of Islamic values through contemporary methods.
The Bunyan Winter Camp was delivered using a smooth, scientific methodology through four specialized educational stations. At the Ablution Station (“Purity is Light”), students learned the theoretical and practical aspects of Wudu through interactive activities, the design of special cards, and direct application with teachers. The Al-Fatihah Station (“Al-Fatihah is the Key”) introduced the importance of the surah as the seven verses recited seventeen times daily, using coloring and artistic creations to aid understanding and memorisation.
In the Prayer Station (“Prayer is a Connection”), interactive storytelling was used to explain the significance of prayer and the steps involved before, during, and after the act, reinforcing the meaning of prayer as a permanent bond between the servant and their Creator. Finally, the “Strong Believer” Station focused on linking prayer to physical activity and remembrance to solidify the concept that prayer is a lifestyle encompassing the body, soul, and behaviour.
This winter camp is part of a series of year-round programmes and activities organized by the Bunyan Student Centre. Targeting various age groups and educational levels, these programmes integrate educational content with practical experience to provide a supportive and inspiring environment. The centre continues to seek horizons for cognitive and moral growth, aiming to leave a lasting positive impact both inside and outside the school environment.
