RAWALPINDI: The Election Commission of Pakistan is planning to hire bank employees for the upcoming general election, as about 700,000 personnel will be required for the polling process, said an official of the commission here yesterday.
The official said that the suggestion to include bank employees came about at a top-level meeting which discussed administrative management and security issues for the election. The meeting was chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin Ebrahim.
The official said that after a tentative list of personnel was finalised, comprehensive training would be provided.
It was also decided that the district election commissioners would obtain the list of officers and officials of federal and provincial departments for their training.
