Rishiraj Singh addressing the students
Doha: Birla Public School organised a special assembly on February 21 to welcome Rishiraj Singh, IPS, ex-collector, India, who was in Doha, visiting schools and addressing students on different topics.
He is the author of the famous book called Before it’s too late, written in Malayalam and translated into many languages.
Rishiraj Singh addressed the students on the use of mobile phones and the harmfulness of excessive screen time. He gave guidance and motivation on how to maintain proper screen time. He encouraged the students to exercise, give more importance to their health, focus on their hobbies, and give equal importance to studies and sports as sports help reduce stress. He suggested names of some software to reduce screen time such as Jist, Unglue, Screentime and Qustodio.
The programme was conceptualised by the teachers and students of grade eight. It started with the prayer song and was followed by the national anthem of the state of Qatar and India. Towards the end of the session, there was a small Q&A session where the students raised their concerns.
One of the students inquired about the challenges one should be ready to face outside the school, to which Rishiraj strikingly responded and said, “Believe in what you are doing, and remember that failure is a part of success”.
School Academic Director and Principal, Harish Sanduja praised Rishiraj Singh for visiting the school and dedicating his precious time to guide young students with his valuable advice. He mentioned that the school has incorporated various measures to prepare the students for new job opportunities like drone pilot, etc, and for children to learn more about future careers and use portals provided by the school.
The audience was mesmerised by an amazing dance performance by the students of the Middle School section, which exquisitely communicated the true meaning of patriotism. The special occasion came to an end with a lovely mime, a creative nonverbal expression of gratitude to Rishiraj.
The event ended with Ananya of Grade 8 proposing a vote-of-thanks.
