DUBAI: Qatar's central bank plans to issue 3 billion riyals ($825 million) of conventional bonds and 1 billion riyals of sukuk in the local currency every quarter, its central bank governor said on Tuesday.

"We want to manage our liquidity, enhance our yield curve, deepen our capital market and create a becnhmark for our companies to issue bonds," Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud al-Thani told reporters at a meeting of Arab finance ministers and central bank governors in Dubai.

On March 10 the Qatari central bank issued 3 billion riyals of conventional bonds and 1 billion riyals of sukuk and said local currency debt would be issued every quarter, half with three-year maturities and half with five-year. But it did not at the time specify the sizes of the quarterly issues. (Reuters)
