Doha: Qatar is taking part in the fifth Kuwait International Prize for Holy Quran memorisation and recitation which opened in Kuwait under the patronage of the Emir H H Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah.
Abdulaziz Saeed Halwan is representing Qatar in the full recitation of Quran category, along with 107 contestants from 57 countries.
The opening ceremony included a documentary on previous competitions and achievements of participants. An exhibition of publications on Quranic sciences is being held on the sidelines.
Qatar’s Yusuf Asheer had taken second position among 83 contestants from 50 Islamic countries in the fourth edition of the competition. QNA
