Mediterranean and Asean Food Festival begins at Lulu

Doha: Lulu Hypermarkets have again set the stage to explore major food and food habits of the world together through innovative events — Mediterranean and Asean Food Festival.
Hosted by Lulu Hypermarket Group in line with its ongoing Food Fiesta 2015, the event was inaugurated yesterday at newly opened hypermarket in Barwa City by diplomats from embassies representing Mediterranean and Asean countries, in the presence of dignitaries and senior executives from the retail industry and other walks of life.
The festival aims to highlight Mediterranean and Asean food and food products and make them popular in the local community.
The Group has been organising Food Fiesta for last 13 years  which culminates in a cookery contest. This year the contest will be held on Saturday at Lulu Hypermarket, Barwa City.
Asean Festival is organised to celebrate the culinary heritage of the East, accelerate imports of agricultural produce from Asean countries to the Middle East.
 The Association of South East Nations (Asean) comprises Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The festival continues for a week, with display country-wise products.
