Doha: After a long break of six months, QGL, Qatar’s oldest and largest Golf Society, resumed its monthly tournament by bidding farewell to H E Dr. Deepak Mittal, Ambassador of India to Qatar, who is returning to India at the end of his tour of duty in Qatar.
QGL’s 212th edition, a Two Person Team Texas Scramble Tournament which was contested by 36 golfers at the Doha Golf Club, was won by H E Tran Duc Hung, Ambassador of Vietnam to Qatar, and his partner Anwar Ali.
The Team of Chandrashekhar Angadi and Rukkaiya Pachisa fought tooth and nail but finished as runners up. Ambassador Mittal, along with Ambassador Issagaliyev of Kazakhstan not only participated in the tournament, but gave away prizes to the winners. During prize distribution and dinner ceremony, QGL President Manoj Megchiani, QGL Vice-President Sanjay Jain and QGL Captain Clark White gave away special prizes to Vinayan Radhakrishnan for ‘Longest Putt’, Pavan Singh for ‘Nearest to Pin’, and Rakesh Wagh & Rukkaiya Pachisa for ‘Longest Drive’. The prizes were sponsored by QGL supporter Pavan Singh.
QGL Founder Member P K Viswanath felicitated Ambassador Mittal, whereas mementos were presented by Ambassador Hung, Ambassador Issagaliyev, Fazal and Tasnim Kazi, and Dr. Ahsan and Rukkaiya Pachisa.
