DOHA: Enterprise Qatar (EQ) hosted a networking event yesterday under the title ‘Stakeholders Engagement Day’ in preparation for the first Government Procurement and Contracting Conference and Exhibition in Qatar. The event will be organised by EQ and take place this month at the Qatar National Convention Center.

Nora Al Mannai, CEO of EQ, joined attendees along with a number of international economists who are experts in the field of developing small and medium enterprises (SMEs), including Professor Murat Yulek, Dean of the Business Administration College at the Turkish Aviation Corporation; Richard Kopisz, Executive Director of Maxwell Stamp-KSA; and Rohan Nagbal, Director of Dan and Bradstreet for Consultancy and Research.

Representatives of local companies from the private and public sectors in Qatar were also in attendance to find out more about the upcoming event and the valuable opportunities it may have in terms of high-quality products and services, and nationalising the importing and procurement process, a tactic that will reduce project cost.

Also attending were representatives of Ashghal, Qatar Airways, RasGas, Shell Qatar, Oryx GTL, Qatar Chemical Company Ltd (Q-Chem), Lusail Real Estate Company, HSBC, Aspire Zone, SASOL, QCoat, QEZ, AJ Jaber Company, Al Mannai Company, Qatari Diar Real Estate, Qatar Petroleum, Qatar Steel and other companies that are ready to offer local work opportunities to SMEs, through engaging them in various bids and tenders which were offered to cover the importing needs of the giant projects being executed by each company.
