Doha: Ooredoo yesterday said that it had launched a range of new features for Ooredoo Passport for business and consumer customers this week, including SMS activation for business customers and a one-time renewal option.
Ooredoo Passport provides customers 1GB of roaming data and 100 roaming minutes for QR100.
As part of Ooredoo’s aim to make business communication as simple as possible, the company has enabled subscription to Ooredoo Passport via SMS, meaning business customers can subscribe to the service any time, wherever they are in the world.
To enable SMS activation of Ooredoo Passport, business customers have to send an official request via their account manager, by sending a fax to 44830999/44059999 or calling 800 8000. Once registered, they can simply send the SMS “OP” to 114 for Shahry customers, or to 121 for Hala users to activate it.
Another new feature of the service is that subscribers will now be able to renew their Passport upfront, eliminating the chance of unforeseen roaming costs between the expiry of the current one and the activation of a new one.
An automated SMS will be sent 48 hours before the expiry of the Ooredoo Passport, asking customers if they wish to extend the seven-day validity of their Ooredoo Passport by pre-ordering another.
To pre-order Ooredoo Passport, consumer and business customers need to send the SMS “OPE” to 114 for Shahry customers and to 121 for Hala customers. The new Passport will be activated once the current one expires.
